GUWAA 2014

Exciting news:

Global Underwater Awareness Association GUWAA has officially moved it headquarters to Norway!

More detail to come...

To find out more about what is happening on the norwegian front, please read the latest GUWAA Marine Eco report!

The divers themselves come from different organizations and units including: Anti Terrorist Police Unit, Navy Seals, Commercial Divers, Marine Biologists, Scuba Instructors, World Champion Free-divers etc.

The team itself is closely chosen and led by GUWAA President Kristijan Curavic, who is himself a professional diver since 1994., educated in Norwegian School of Commercial Diving in Fagerstrand, near Oslo. He is a former world record holder in extreme free diving under ice and the first man in history to free dive at the North Pole and set a world record in free diving by 51 meter.

One of the Unit’s members is Francois Sarano, a professional diver, with doctorate in oceanography. He is most famous for being the right hand of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau. He was a part of the Calypso expeditions, and is the author of many documentaries.

Guinness World Record LogoWe want to thank everyone who participated in this year's Global Underwater Cleanup and Protection Day! Because of the bad weather conditions, many diving centers worldwide had to postpone the cleanup and we didn't succeed to set a Guinness World Record.
Next year we are going to organize the 3rd World Underwater Cleanup and Protection Day and we will attempt to set the record again!
